How to Build a 7-Email Affiliate Sequence in Under an Hour

A complete walkthrough — from raw product data to a fully-written 7-email warmup sequence that's ready to schedule in your ESP. Tools, prompts, and the exact order I use.

7-email affiliate sequence build walkthrough

I used to spend a full day writing affiliate email sequences. Sometimes two. Then I'd second-guess every subject line and never hit send. Last month I rebuilt my whole workflow around Pro Email Engine and now I do the same job in under an hour — with better open rates.

This is the exact 8-step process I use, written so you can copy it. No fluff, no upsell, just the workflow.

Before you start

  • An affiliate offer with a sales page link and one piece of bonus material (PDF, swipe file, or video)
  • An ESP account — Kit, GetResponse, or AWeber all work for this tutorial
  • Pro Email Engine access (free tier is enough for the first sequence)
  • About 45 minutes of focused time — most of it is review/edit, not writing
01
Step One

Pick the right offer

The best 7-email sequences in the world won't save a bad offer. Before you write a word, vet the offer against three criteria: it converts on cold traffic, the sales page does some of the work for you, and the commission is high enough that one sale per 100 subscribers is profitable.

I use a quick scoring sheet — affiliate page quality (1-10), commission per sale, refund rate, and existing reviews. Anything below a 21/30 total, I skip.

The scoring sheet I run every offer through before writing a single email.
Pro Tip

If the affiliate sales page hides the price or the refund policy, it's a no. Sequences that lead to friction-heavy pages convert poorly no matter how well-written the emails are.

02
Step Two

Map the 7-email arc

Every sequence I build follows the same arc — and breaking the arc is the #1 reason emails feel pushy. Email 1 introduces the problem. Emails 2-3 build trust. Email 4 is the formal pitch. Emails 5-6 handle objections. Email 7 is the deadline close.

Write this arc on a single sheet of paper before you open any tool. The mistake most people make is jumping into AI generation before deciding what each email is supposed to do.

The 7-email arc
The 7-email arc. Yellow = pitch. Red = deadline close. Blue = trust building.
Pro Tip

If you skip emails 5-6 (objection handling), you'll cap at half the conversions you should be getting. People rarely buy on the first ask — emails 5-6 are where the money lives.

03
Step Three

Set up your ESP

Open your ESP. Create a new sequence titled with the offer name + date. Set the send cadence — I default to days 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (a one-email-per-day arc), which works for warm lists and is fine for cold ones too as long as the hook in email 1 is strong.

If you're in Kit or GetResponse, the integration with Pro Email Engine means you can paste the generated emails directly into the visual sequence builder. No CSV imports, no manual copy-paste.

Note

If your list is bigger than 10k or hasn't been warmed in 30+ days, slow the cadence to days 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. Daily emails to a cold list will spike unsubscribes.

04
Step Four

Generate emails 1-3

Open Pro Email Engine and choose the "Affiliate Warmup" sequence template. Paste the offer's sales page URL, your bonus PDF link, and a 2-line description of who the offer is for.

Set tone to "First-person, contrarian" for emails 1-3. The engine will generate three emails: an opener that names the problem, a story-driven trust email, and a curiosity-gap email that teases the recommendation.

Tone: First-person, contrarian
Goal: Build trust before pitching
Emails: 1, 2, 3
Bonus: PDF link auto-included in email 2
Watch Out

Don't accept the first generation as-is. The opening line of email 1 is the single most important sentence in the whole sequence — rewrite it in your own voice if it doesn't sound like something you'd actually say.

Pro Email Engine bundles the affiliate-sequence prompts I rewrote 14 times to land at the version that converts. One template, seven emails, zero blank-page anxiety.

Step Five

Generate emails 4-5

Email 4 is the formal pitch — and the engine handles this well as long as you give it the offer's specific outcome. Don't say "course about marketing" — say "12-week sequence that gets you to your first 100 affiliate sales".

Email 5 is the first objection-handler. The two objections that come up in 80% of niches are "I don't have time" and "I've tried something like this before". Tell the engine which one to lead with.

Pro Tip

For email 5, paste 1-2 actual customer testimonials into the prompt. The engine weaves them in naturally and the email stops sounding like marketing.

06
Step Six

Generate emails 6-7

Email 6 handles the second objection — usually price-related. The engine has a "value reframe" mode that compares the offer's price to a single concrete alternative (e.g. "less than two months of Calendly Pro").

Email 7 is the deadline close. Set the deadline to 24-48 hours from email 6's send. Anything longer and people forget; anything shorter feels rushed. The engine generates two versions — pick the one that sounds more like you.

Note

Real deadlines convert. Fake "expires tonight" deadlines that never actually expire kill list trust faster than anything else.

07
Step Seven

QA + tracking

Read every email out loud. If a sentence feels weird in your mouth, your subscribers will feel the weirdness too. Fix it.

Add UTM parameters to every affiliate link — at minimum ?utm_source=email&utm_medium=seq&utm_content=email-N. This is the only way you'll know which emails in the sequence are actually pulling weight when you A/B test the next version.

Pro Tip

Send a test email to yourself + one real reader before scheduling. Real readers catch typos and "off" tone that you won't see after staring at the same draft for 30 minutes.

08
Step Eight

Schedule and launch

Schedule the first email for tomorrow morning, 8am subscriber-time (or whatever time your existing data says works). Let the rest run on the cadence from step 3.

Once the sequence is live, set yourself a reminder for day 8 — that's when you'll have enough data to know whether the sequence is converting and whether email 4 (the pitch) needs a rewrite.

Pro Tip

Don't tinker mid-sequence. Wait until everyone has gone through the full 7 emails before changing anything — otherwise you can't tell what caused the change in conversion rate.

What you've built

A 7-email warmup sequence, fully written, QA'd, scheduled, and tracked — in under an hour. Most affiliate marketers either skip the sequence entirely (and lose 70% of potential commissions) or spend a week building it (and never launch). You just got the result without either trade-off.

The email you'll be most surprised by is email 5 or 6 — that's where the unexpected sales come from. Most of my best months have been email-5-driven, not pitch-driven.

Troubleshooting

Open rate on email 1 is below 25%

The subject line probably reads like marketing. Try the subject from email 3 instead — it tends to be more curious-driven.

Click rate is good but conversions are low

The emails are working — the sales page is the problem. Check your affiliate's page on mobile; 60% of email clicks come from phones.

Unsubscribes spike on email 4

Means emails 1-3 didn't build enough trust. Add a fourth pre-pitch email next time, or extend the cadence to day 5.

Want the easy mode?

Pro Email Engine has the affiliate-warmup template baked in, with my exact prompts already pre-loaded. The first sequence is free — try it on your next offer and see if the 45-minute build holds up for you.
